Am I Dreaming Or What?

The things that are going on in our world right now are surreal. I truly feel like I am either dreaming, or living through a sci-fi movie!  Who ever thought something like this would be happening in the 21st century. I remember reading books and watching movies about the future (like in the year 2020) and thinking that it was hilarious. Nothing like that would really happen.

And yet, here we are!

I want to keep things on the lighter side today, so I’m going to reference some of the scenes I recall from those books and movies when I was a kid/young adult. See if you can relate…

  • People being quarantined in their private residences or communal living areas.

  • Government dictating when/where people can move about.

  • Diseases never heard of before wiping out entire civilizations.

  • Store shelves completely empty.

  • Businesses shutting down and boarded up to prevent looting.

  • People being herded like cattle from one location to another.

  • Children conscripted to service, being removed from their homes.

  • Cars that drive themselves.

  • No actual human interactions other than through video phones.

  • The “common” people revolting and overthrowing the government.

  • Animals running the country.

Okay, I think you get the idea…

So, back to what I originally said, “Am I dreaming or what?” Not all of these things are being implemented right now, but every single one of them has happened in our more recent history. So, were they really fiction or someone just being aware of the possibilities?

This is not meant to be a doom and gloom newsletter, it is tongue in cheek to get you to thinking about things. How about we use our imaginations to think about how amazing things can be? Let’s focus on the good stuff.

  • More time with family.

  • Less driving and commuting.

  • Time to actually play and get outdoors.

  • Time to accomplish those tasks that we just never got around to.

  • Reading the books that have been on our list forever!

  • Cooking healthy meals.

  • Catching up with friends and family on the telephone (video phones!!)

  • Thinking about our future and the future of our families. How we can make choices to live life with more intention in the future.

  • Realizing what our priorities are.

Okay, again, you get the idea…

I hope this has made you smile a little and made you think about things a little differently.

I’m sure we all have areas of our lives we wanted to change but just never found the time. Well, here we are. Opportunity is knocking! (Don’t open the door, ask for an email!!)

If you want some more ideas on how to make positive changes, I’d love to hear from you.

Let’s come out on the other side of all of this stronger, healthier, re-energized, and more in touch with what REALLY matters!
